Caterpillar Care

If you find a Monarch Caterpillar, first thing's first, congratulations! Now what, you made ask? Here, we'll teach the proper way to care for your caterpillar and watch it grow into a beautiful Monarch Butterfly.

Where to Find Eggs

Female Monarchs only lay their eggs on Milkweed because that's all the caterpillars will eat Milkweed will grow pretty much anywhere if there's water around. The eggs are pale yellow and are smaller than a mustard seed. Its best to pluck the leaf along with the egg.

How to Raise

Its best to raise caterpillars in a closed container with a seal so they won't escape. Have plenty of Milkweed because they will eat all of it. Clean up after them every few hours because they will poop a lot. Also, keep the temperature at neutral because caterpillars hate extreme heat.

When to Release

Once your Monarch Butterfly has finally emerged from it's chrysalis, they will hang from the sag for about 12hrs. Please, do not disturb until it is fully active. After that, you can release it outside, its best for the day to be sunny and windy for the butterfly to fly.
