Monarch Butterflies
Monarch Butterflies are also known as the “King Butterfly” because of their extreme beauty, their popularity and because they're the butterfly that will travel long distances.
Life Cycle
Monarch Butterflies go through a unique cycle. First the mother will lay one egg on a milkweed leaf and the egg will hatch in a few days. The baby will eat milkweed continuously over the next 2 weeks then it goes into its chrysalis for another 2 weeks then becomes a Monarch Butterfly.
Migration
Did you know? Monarch Butterflies are the only one of its species to migrate. Its true. Just like birds, Monarchs fly to migrate all the way to Mexico for the winter and then they gather around with millions of other Monarchs to breed for the next generation.
Pollination Crew
Monarch Butterflies are not just beautiful insects, they're also part of the pollination crew. Just like the bees, Monarchs are also natural born pollinators as well. Its important to keep Monarchs around because without them, there would not be a lot of food.
